Is it free?

Free cards are free and will stay free. Animated stories are free to make and send for now, but they will become a paid feature in the future. We’ll announce prices on this site before anything changes, and you’ll always see the price before you pay.

Do I need an account to try it?

No. You can open any story, write it, add photos and play it through, and make a free card, all without an account; your draft stays on your device. To create a story’s link, or to download or share a card, sign in with Google.

Do they need an app or an account to open it?

No. Your gift is a link. They open it in the browser on their phone or computer, with nothing to install and no sign-up.

Who can see my gift?

Anyone who has the link. Links are long and random, so they can’t be guessed, and gifts aren’t listed anywhere or shown in search results. Share it only with the person it’s for.

Are my photos and letters private?

While you write, your draft is visible only to you. Before you sign in, it and its photos stay on your device. Once you sign in, photos you add are stored with your account so they follow you to other devices. Once you send a gift, its words and photos can be seen by anyone with its link.

Can I change a gift after sending it?

A sent gift is locked so it stays exactly as they received it. You can make a copy to edit and send a new link, or delete the gift.

Can I delete a gift?

Yes, drafts and sent gifts, from My gifts. Deleting a sent gift stops its link working for the person you sent it to, and removes photos that no other gift of yours uses. It can’t be undone.

Which photos can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC (iPhone) photos. Each one is resized on your device before it uploads. You can keep up to 300 photos and send up to 50 gifts per account.

Can I add music?

Each story has a song you can choose from our list. It starts when they open the gift, and they can turn it off at any time.

Can I put it on a real card?

Yes. When you send a story you can make a QR code to print on a card or tuck into a frame. Scanning it opens the gift.

Will it remind me about birthdays?

You can save the people you care about and their important dates, and see what’s coming up on your home page. Email reminders are switched on in your profile once they’re available.

How are free cards different from stories?

A free card is a single still image: a design, their name, a photo and a few words, made in a minute and shared or downloaded. Anyone can make one; downloading or sharing it needs a free account. Their photos never leave your device. A story is an animated experience they tap through, with several pages, photos and a song.

I want to say sorry. Is there something for that?

Rainy Window is made for apologies. They wipe a fogged window to read each line, and it ends by gently asking to talk.
